The growth of heating systems with rust and scale causes a drop in the temperature in the radiators and, accordingly, in the rooms. Why is this happening?
All the fault is the quality of the water. At the moment, it is impossible to find good, soft tap water in any city or village. Hard water flows through the pipes, which in a larger quantity contains magnesium and calcium salts, which are also called hard salts, which leads to the formation of various kinds of deposits. To remove scale and rust from the heating system, they use, most often, various alkaline and acidic solutions, which are selected for each system separately.
For such cleaning, special equipment is needed, which means that it is necessary to call a master and pay bills, which not everyone can afford. Moreover, no one will guarantee that the chemical reagents used will not damage the surface on which deposits have accumulated. But if you do not start the process of formation and accumulation of deposits on the walls of pipes, and wash them at least once a year, and preferably twice – before and after the heating season – then it is quite possible to dispense with a simple discharge of water, which can be performed independently, practically without excessive cash costs.
For flushing the pipes by dumping water, a hose with a diameter of up to 25 mm, a tap with a ball valve up to 25 mm in diameter, and a compressor are required. The system in a house must be necessarily closed.
Using a tap in the return through the compressor, it is necessary to pump up to five or six atmospheres into the system. Garbage and scum from the walls will begin to chip, this is due to increased pressure, which leads to a change in the usual pressure that was observed throughout the heating season. After that, the tap is closed, and the compressor hose changes to a simple, rubber one, one end of which is thrown out onto the street, preferably away from home.
And if you do not want to spoil the soil, it is generally better to put the end of the hose in some kind of a container, the water from which you can then pour out of the plot. The hose is tightly clamped with a yoke, the other side is also fixed, and after that the crane in the return opens sharply. When all the water has poured out, the system will need to be refilled and repeat this procedure until the clean water runs out of the hose. Typically, this procedure in a private house is repeated at least three times.
After the rinsing procedure, the system is again filled with water and air is drained from the radiators. That’s all, the system in a house is ready for a new heating season.
If you do not rinse twice a year, then at the end of the heating season, you can shoot all the radiators and rinse them manually. Especially it will be useful if the washing was not carried out for several years. This is done very simply. The water from the system descends, all the faucets overlap, the radiators are removed, often a spanner and several screwdrivers are needed for this. After this, if possible, the radiator is dismantled in sections, and each section is washed separately.
To do this, use the usual household tools, which are often available in every home. After cleaning, the radiators are put in place and the system is rinsed with cold, and then with hot water, as described above.
